Description:

Sacred Transitions is a seven part compilation of performances in various

cities that the artist Helina Metaferia has lived or has ancestral roots in. The performances rely on simple gestures to address the complexities of change that come from migration in dispersed communities. Each performance is in collaboration with an artist(s) who lives and works in the respected city. In order of appearance, they are: Tsedaye Makonnen, Washington, DC; Aidah Aliyah Rasheed, Oakland, CA; Autumn Knight, New York, NY; and Mihret Kebede, Martha Haile, Meron Haile, and Yafet Meku, Addis Ababa, Ethiopia.
