On the centennial anniversary of the 19th amendment, which protects a women’s right to vote, I presented a live performance artwork that honors Black women suffragists and civil rights activists, whose legacies inspire current strides for social justice. The performance included improvisational vocals from musical guest Shenel Johns and was in conjunction with the Wide Awake's art and protest event that day, an art activism collective founded by Hank Willis Thomas, Eric Gottsman, and Jose Parla. This performance is part of my"Ancestral Honoring" series, which began in 2014.
