"These Words Matter"
2014
ink on white cardstock, red paper, and ribbon
Boston Public Library Dudley Branch and Boston Arts Festival

During a durational performance in the Boston Public Library Dudley Branch (3.5 hours) and the Boston Arts Festival (12 hours over 2 days) I wore a Zora Neale Hurston inspired sculpture made of library card catalogues from African American literature in the Dudley Branch collection. I read from one of Zora's books and dropped quotes on red paper while interacting with the public. The performance intended to give recognition to authors who were under recognized during their time yet left a large impact in the literary world.
